History
I have been in the mental health field for 15 years, with the past 10 years dedicated to working as a mental health counselor in a variety of settings. My professional experience includes working with both youth and adults in outpatient clinics, inpatient care, crisis counseling, and, most recently, school-based mental health services. These experiences have given me a broad perspective on the mental health needs of individuals across different stages of life and have strengthened my passion for helping others recognize and reach their full potential.
Outside of my counseling career, sports have always been a significant part of my life. Growing up, I participated in basketball and cheerleading, with basketball being my primary passion. I played one year of DIII college basketball. During college, I served as an assistant varsity basketball coach for two years, and I currently serve as the Head JV Girls Basketball Coach. I also have several years of volunteer coaching experience in AAU basketball and have assisted with middle school softball programs. My involvement in both athletics and mental health counseling has allowed me to recognize an area of growing concern among athletes: the mental and emotional challenges that can impact their confidence, resilience, and overall performance.
Throughout my coaching career, I have had conversations with coaches in our local community and in surrounding areas, some more than 100 miles away, who consistently express similar concerns. Many have observed that athletes today struggle with mental toughness, bouncing back from mistakes, maintaining confidence, and demonstrating resilience when faced with adversity. What initially stood out to me was that these challenges were not limited to a particular sport, age group, gender, or level of athletic ability. Whether working with developing athletes or those who have already achieved significant success, I continued to hear about the difficulty athletes experience in managing their thoughts, overcoming setbacks, and maintaining a positive and determined mindset.
As both a mental health counselor and a coach, I became increasingly passionate about understanding these challenges and identifying effective ways to address them. I began researching mental performance strategies, exploring various programs, and examining how the same principles used to develop physical strength and athletic skills could be applied to mental training. Through this process, I recognized the importance of intentionally developing an athlete's mindset, confidence, emotional regulation, and ability to respond constructively to challenges. I also recognized that these same skills are essential for individuals striving for success in demanding careers and other high-achieving environments.
Who We Are
Mind-Power-Performance was developed from this passion and the belief that mental performance deserves just as much attention and intentional training as physical performance. My highlighted service focuses on helping athletes and high-achieving individuals identify and overcome mental barriers that may interfere with their goals, confidence, and performance. Just as athletes routinely train their bodies to improve strength, endurance, and skill, they can also train their minds to improve focus, resilience, emotional regulation, and confidence.
Through mental performance counseling and targeted strategies, my goal is to help individuals recognize unproductive thought patterns, manage performance-related stress, respond effectively to setbacks, and develop a mindset that supports continued growth. Rather than allowing negative self-talk, fear of failure, self-doubt, or unexpected challenges to become barriers, individuals can learn practical skills to navigate these experiences and move forward with purpose. I believe mental toughness and resilience are skills that can be developed through intentional practice, just like any other skill. The brain is capable of learning and strengthening the thought patterns and responses that support confidence, adaptability, and perseverance.
Through Mind-Power-Performance, I strive to empower athletes and high-achieving individuals to take an active role in their mental development, maximize their potential, and pursue their personal, academic, athletic, and professional goals with greater confidence and purpose. My ultimate goal is to help individuals recognize that their mindset is not simply a part of their performance; it is an essential component.
